“Where’s Bucky?”

She looked straight into my eyes. “With my idiot ex-husband.” Again, I could feel her eyes glancing up and down my body. She thought she was being slick about it, too. “Want to skate with me?”

“Sure,” I said. In a matter of five minutes, we were comfortable with each other, laughing and telling jokes. There was something irresistible and magnetic about her. As our time together progressed, she became flirty, almost with a casual touch here and there. I liked it. We also played a modified game of SKATE, which is a sort of contest where one does a trick, and the other tries to copy it and outdo it. She won, easily. As I said, I’m not very good on a skateboard, but that’s not the point. Getting exercise and staying healthy -- while having fun – is more important.

Finally, we set into a few double runs, where we skated the mini ramp together. We had timed it so we were both on opposite ends, and briefly zipped past each other on the bottom. On one pass, we collided and we both hit flat bottom, hard.

Instantly, I rolled over. “Oh my God, Elissa, are you okay?”
